$4 Million Invested in Toledo Neighborhood Parks

This week, I announced more than $4 million in neighborhood park investments happening across Toledo in 2026.

Even better, very little of this investment is coming from Toledo taxpayers. By aggressively pursuing state and federal grants, we’re bringing outside dollars back to Toledo to continue investing in neighborhoods across our city and deliver real improvements for residents.

These investments include 12 different park projects focused on improving recreational spaces, restoring natural areas, and strengthening neighborhoods throughout Toledo.

One of the largest projects is the full revitalization of Savage Park in central Toledo, where the city is investing more than $2.1 million into transforming the space. The project will replace aging and outdated amenities with a completely renewed park experience, including new features, improved sidewalks, and parking lot upgrades. When complete, it will feel like an entirely new park for the neighborhood.

Additional projects planned across Toledo include:

  • Playground replacements at Mayfair Park, Dale Stone Park, Greenwood Park, Collins Park, and Jamie Farr Park

  • The opening of Pontiac Preserve to the public in North Toledo

  • Football field renovations at Westwood

  • New pickleball courts at Fort Meigs Sertoma Park

  • Basketball court renovations at Friendship Park

  • Restroom access improvements at Ottawa Park on the Bancroft side

  • A new playground at Collins Park in east Toledo, which has gone nearly 30 years without one and has been a longtime request from neighborhood families

Parks help define a neighborhood, and every Toledo resident deserves spaces they can enjoy and be proud of. I’m excited to see these projects continue taking shape this summer and beyond as we keep building momentum in neighborhoods across Toledo.

Sincerely,

Other Exciting Stuff to Know About

Scott High Students Step Up for Their Neighborhood

The City of Toledo is fortunate to have residents and young people who take pride in their neighborhoods and step up to make a difference.

I want to recognize the students of the Scott High School Honors Society for their outstanding work at Galliers Park. Over the last several weeks, these students have organized multiple park clean-up and improvement efforts, including rehabilitating the horseshoe pits, planting daylilies near the park entrance, and spreading mulch around the playground.

Even more impressive, several students who live nearby have committed to continuing to care for the park throughout the summer by helping keep the area clean, watering the flowers, and reporting maintenance concerns to the Parks Division.

Their efforts are a great example of civic pride, volunteerism, and neighborhood stewardship in action. On behalf of the City of Toledo, thank you to the Scott High School Honors Society for helping make Galliers Park a welcoming space for the community. We hope their example inspires others to get involved in supporting neighborhood parks across our city.
